Huatulco, Oaxaca is a tourist beach town in the state of Oaxaca with a diverse population from all over the globe. This city was planned to attract expats, tourist and investors from around the world plus being a cruise terminal , many visitors land here frequently. You will not be surprised to see local restaurants carrying Canadian and other countries flags at their enteranice. The food scene here is catching up to this increasing diverse needs of the people. you can find restaurants serving all types of cuisines and fusions in this town - except desi-Indian food! Guess it’s waiting for a bollywood movie song to be shot here to attrack tourist from the Indian sub continent.
Here‘s a list of a few - MUST TRY restaurants in Huatulco. There are many other small eateries and big chains in here and it all depends on your taste and preferences. I tend to try and eat regional cuisine at local establishments and occasionally go fine dining or fast food , burgers , pizzas and more.
Awesome Seafood at Grillo Marinero - La Crucecita
this is one of the older and popular seafood restaurants in La Crucecita. They are open only from 1 pm to 8 pm and I was turned down from entering at 7:45 pm once. Also, there is usually a wait in the evenings. So better to come early ( and hungry). I could NOT try any of their fish dish as they ran out during dinner hours but the lady there ( I guess she’s the owner, was kind enough and made me a delicious garlic shrimp and octupus dish)

Seafood at the several restaurants at the Santa Cruz Playa / Marina - Here you will find great local seafood selection along the row of local restaurants. The Menu is typically all seafood including fresh catch of the day. Most restaurants are open for Lunch and Dinner and have some live music performance. you can have your table right on the beach with panoramic views of the Playa Santa Cruz

This place has the best Gelato in the area. Their pistachio flavor ice cream was super delicious and I used to come here almost ever night to get a scoop ( fyi , they have rotating flavor and many times I didnt get my favorite ice cream). 2 scoops for 28 peso!!

Fyi they have great wifi too. I was able to get a nice place to work from here one of the mornings
you can get the best coffee in town - there is this one lady who sells awesome coffee and delicious tamales right at the entrance of the park ( outside of Cafe Huatulco) in the mornings before 9am . I loved the coffee and the tamales… had to get them again the morning before flying out
