Today - it’s my day off at work 🙂 and yes, I have plans —- Go Fish!!
In my previous days in Puerto Escondido ( also know as PE or hidden port , as translated in English), I found out that this place is a great fishing destination. I have tried fishing before at other places including Belize but never had a good luck 🤨
I reached out to Mr Ray, who came with several recommendations from locals for an awesome fishing trip and he agreed to take me on the trip on share basis ( 5-6 passengers, 1000p each). Normally the prices for a fishing trip on a local boat start at 1000p/hr and can last anywhere between 3-6 hours.
Super excited about my fishing trip, I left no stones unturned - early health dinner, early to bed, all gears packed. Mr Ray was supposed to pick me up at 6am from my hotel and i am almost ready at 5:45 am, when I start to get messages from him on WhatsApp that he’s unable to locate my hotel!! And after several failed attempts to call and message him with no further response.. I knew that there was no fishing today!! And Mr Ray ain’t gonna show up! Well , I wanted to make the most out of my day off and I decided to hop on the local collectivo and head to Bahia Principal ( the main beach). I had read somewhere that you can get some water activities and tours from here.
I entered the beach from El Adoquinado street and met this one person who started to offer me a shared tour to watch whales and dolphins…. Wow, who wants to go fishing??? After some negotiations, we settled for 400p for a 3 hour tour!!! ( Fyi - I noticed that the price was 600p for the people entering the beach from the centro / tourist side!)
and if you have spent that 5 mins watching my video on this page then you must have already realized that - this was the most amazing tour I have ever had - watching Whales , dolphins and turtles in the wild oceans!
if you are ever in PE, make sure you go for the whale n dolphins tours! Msg me if you like to get any details ( or things to do post-tour)
